Why ‘Hundredth Monkey’?
The ‘Hundredth Monkey Effect’ demonstrates when a behavior, once learned by a certain number of monkeys (or people), spreads to the entire group. The phrase ‘hundredth monkey’ is symbolically used to describe that critical tipping point whereby a new idea, concept or behavior is learned by enough individuals that it becomes commonplace. We know that any grassroots movement must reach critical mass before real change can happen. It is in that spirit that we seek to find our own mythical ‘hundredth monkey’, or the person who marks the tipping point for human awareness and action on the climate crisis.
Finding the Hundredth Monkey:
